STANLEY Security Case Studies

The Hospital of St. John & St. Elizabeth was founded in 1856 and today is a successful private acute Hospital which uses its profits to support its principal charity St. John's Hospice.

The hospital is the third largest independent hospital in the United Kingdom and provides a full range of specialist services from its famous Birth Unit, a specialist range of orthopaedic, surgery, medical and paediatric care.

The Requirement

The hospital, a STANLEY customer since 1996, wanted to upgrade its paging system, which was used to communicate with key medical staff, with a speech based communication solution.

The Solution

STANLEY upgraded the paging system to a DECT Cordless solution, which ensures continuous contact with key staff wherever they are in the hospital.

The DECT system, which incorporates 20 handsets, operates in conjunction with the internal telephone exchange to provide a cordless telephone system.

Each cordless handset is associated with an extension on the exchange and offers the facilities of a desk telephone.

The two telephones – fixed and cordless handset – are fully operational at all times allowing the caller to both make and answer calls from either. They also have a text messaging facility.

The hospital acquired the original paging solution through a STANLEY Finance agreement; STANLEY Assure™, and was able to upgrade to the DECT solution by entering into a new agreement.
