Gwent Healthcare NHS Trust employs 11,200 staff and provides quality services to more than 550,000 people in South East Wales.

The Trust has three acute and twenty community hospitals, enhanced by health centres, community clinics and a robust mental health and learning disability structure.

The Requirement

Gwent Healthcare NHS Trust was looking to upgrade the existing pager system on its three main sites – Royal Gwent Hospital in Newport, Nevill Hall Hospital in Abergavenny and County Hospital in Pontypool.

The system requiring upgrade had been installed by two of STANLEY's main competitors. The work was put out to tender and STANLEY won the contract for a seven-year rental agreement due to a combination of its ability to comply with the tender specification and the unique facilities offered by its systems.

The Solution

STANLEY installed the AEN 3 paging system, incorporating one-way speech, at each of the three sites – these pagers have proved a vital, flexible and dependable communications tool for the cardiac arrest teams within the hospitals.

In addition, two-way speech pagers have been installed at Nevill Hall Hospital to assist the Works and Estates Department.

"STANLEY was selected due to the company's ability to meet our tender requirements," said Alan Dudley, of Gwent Healthcare NHS Trust.

"The levels of service we received throughout the sales process were excellent and the installation was completed on time, with the minimum of disruption to our operations. The benefits to our telephonists stem from the ease of use of the encoders, which in turn minimise congestion on the switchboard."
